Exhibition

This exhibition includes objects from CAM's historical museum collection. There are embroidery samplers, hand-sewn underwear, baskets, hats all meticulously hand-made but perhaps not so willingly. Certainly, the children and women depicted in the paintings and works on paper which accompany the textiles do not always look as if they would be enthusiastic about making, mending and darning. Highlights include a suppercloth made by the Methodist Ladies Guild of Fryerstown, examples of lace, fabulous hats and a section devoted to the 1907 First Australian Exhibition of Women's Work.
